Look what came in the mail!
My Spring Beauty VoxBox, also my first Voxbox!
What's a VoxBox?
Similar to MyGlam, BirchBox and other beauty boxes, VoxBox is a FREE box of "samples" from Influenster.
What's in it?
Each month, if selected, you will receive a few products to test and review.
How do I get one?
All you have to do is sign up, earn some badges, be eligible for a VoxBox, and do some reviews when you get them. If you haven't tried it you definitely should. In case you didn't see it earlier, it's absolutely FREE.
A disclaimer first, I am in no way affiliated with any of the products I received and all opinions given are honest. I did not pay for them nor was I paid.
Alright, now that I've introduced you to what a VoxBox is, let's see what I got.
I was absolutely ecstatic to receive mine! Hehe.
I got 7 products this month as there was a little bonus thrown in!
Here's the card it comes with that gives you the retail price and description of the products.
After some calculations and research, the box adds up to a value of around $70, plus or minus.
I honestly didn't bother reading those descriptions...
Moving on...
Bath & Body Works body mist.
As it said in the card, there are over 20 scents, the one I received was Twilight Woods.
Eh... I like it, but I dislike it at the same time. I love how the scent is strong enough unlike most of the body mists I've purchased. One spritz is enough. Unfortunately, this is really not my scent. T_T I wish that I got some sort of floral or fruity scent like some others. It really is a lot of product for its price though. Definitely would recommend you to go try them out and find the scent you like.
The cons? Only cause the scent I received didn't really suit me.
The pros? One spritz is all it takes and it's a BIG bottle.
SOYJOY Bar
I'm not a big fan of granola bars. I absolutely loathe nuts, except roasted peanuts and pistachios.
I also dislike wheat/ oatmeal. Talk about unhealthy... I just really can't stand the strong taste of grains (exclusion of rice, I love rice). Granola bars are the worst. Can't stand the dry texture and "oatsy" taste, and with nuts? Omg, no thanks; it's really hard to get me to eat a granola bar without me cringing. The only granola bars I've really enjoyed are those chocolate-y fiber one bars (are those even granola bars?), and Nutrigrain's fruity cereal bars, where the flavors overwhelm the grainy taste.
So when I saw the SoyJoy bar, I cringed a little at first. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but the packaging was so pretty, I had to try it. It was appealed to me like a Nutrigrain bar. Plus, it's fruity and no nuts, hence, no harm trying. I crossed my finger hoping it would taste like a Nutrigrain bar, and I wasn't disappointed. Though it claimed to be "moister and fruiter" (I wouldn't know since I've never had one), it was still pretty dry, though it was fruity. I gotta admit, I like it.
The cons? It's small for the amount of calories you're consuming and it's slightly dry.
The plus? It's fruity, not bad, and all-natural, no artificial coloring/ flavoring. Most importantly,
50+ SPF ChapStick
I've only smeared it once on my lips. I haven't gone out into the glaring Texas sun/heat to try it yet. Though I must say, I like the lemony citrusy scent it has to it, not a strong one though. When I had it on, it made my lips somewhat softer. I have to try it on more to see if that's really the chap-stick at work or if it was just a random hour of soft lips. Unfortunately, it's not my go-to my chap-stick... yet. It's only cause I still got something else better and I'm still not sure if I'm sensitive to it. We shall see.
*/edit: My lips didn't really react to it in any way so that's a good thing!
The cons? I feel like it doesn't really do much to my lips?
The pros? It does make my lips softer when it's still on & it smells greaaaaaaat.
(My fingers look so short and stubby here.. -.-)
I was really excited to see these. I've always wanted to try them, but I didn't want to splurge on it. $10 for 16 nail strips is a pretty pricey risk. I was glad to get these, though somewhat disappointed at the design I got. I don't really do my nails often cause I always do my left hand perfectly but mess up terribly when I do my right hand with my left, I especially find it weird to stare at my own fingernails when they don't seem natural. Getting leopard prints was somewhat of a disappointment. Not a big fan of bold prints. \:
I tried them anyway. Pretty cool! I actually like the nail strips, though not the design. I would definitely buy these again, but other designs that would suit me more. It's actually nail polish as once you remove them from the packaging, you can smell the nail polish. It's stretchy and goes on really nicely.
The cons? Not the nail design for me, way too bold. Kind of confusing to apply at first. I have small nails, so it was a puzzle to find the ones that suit my nails...
The pros? Fun experience and SUPER EASY to use. Ridiculously easy and fast. Goes on really nicely.
AVEENO body wash
I haven't tried this yet, since I already showered before I got this.
I'll try to update this part once I try it tomorrow.
It's also the only sample size in the box.
*/edit: As I said it smells great, but since I have super dry skin, I can't really see much difference about the "moisturizing" property of it, but it might be different for many others with normal skins. I do enjoy it in the shower though. I love Aveeno products anyway. I love the clean, fresh feeling it leaves.
The cons? none really.
The pros? Smells good (That's all I can say for now) and cleans well.
SheerCover Duo Concealer
I expected to received some kind of concealer since they had me filled out a survey to find out what shade I am. I was actually really excited then, since I love trying new makeup. I hardly wear foundation, so concealers are my magical unicorns, that and eyeliner. Having really dry skin makes it even harder to find the right kind of concealers. So I can't wait to try this out, when I did a swatch of it, it definitely was the right shade. The consistency of it is really creamy, so it may just be perfect for dry skin. Since I have yet to step out into the great outdoors, I can't really say how great or treacherous it is... yet.
*edit/: I really love the duo shade as it helps cover dark circles really well. The creaminess texture works great for my dry skin since it doesn't cause my skin to flake. Unfortunately, the wear time wasn't as long lasting as I expected; however, since it's so compact, it really isn't a hassle to carry it around for touch ups (though I never really bother since I'm too lazy).
The cons? Not extremely long-lasting, needs touch up after around 3-4 hours. May be too creamy for normal - oily skin types.
The pros? The duo shades allows you to blend it for the shade that would match you. Creamy texture suits dry skin well.
Dr.Scholl's Ball of Foot Gels*
This was the bonus surprise they added! I've never ever used any sole inserts/ gel pads before. I'm actually pretty excited to try these out in the heels I'm going to wear to graduation. This would probably make wearing cheap heels a lot more comfortable. LOL. They look really comfy and they felt comfy when I was squeezing and poking it. We'll see how they are in about 2 weeks.
The cons? They smell weird... (but then who the heck is gonna smell your freaking foot gel pads?)
